only ever really stayed in touch with people online from this site, I wanted to take the opportunity to meet a few, but a bad financial patch and long distance travelling meant I couldn't. I've met one or two people from other similar sites, but nothing developed into anything serious. But, ever the optimist, que sera sera

Five-Owe thats a very good outlook to have!
I think we all should be optimists as you so eloquently put it.
But from what I've read on other forums and discussions
there seems a lot of people disheartened by the dating game.

Well all seem pretty positive thus far, I have only meet one person from this site
and I am very happy indeed.

I have met a few people before from other sites but more in a friendship sense,
As I tend to have a nack for getting on with anyone regardless of sex, race or age.
And thankfully through that I have gained some very close friends, The majority of
my closest friends that I "hang out" with are people i've met through the "net" or
through someone whom i knew from online.....

If i'm honest, and this may be a detour from my positive thinking, but even if someone found me interesting enough to want to meet up or more, I don't feel confident enough in myself to be who I am online in real life...I've some serious weightloss I want to do before I think I'm worthy of any attention, amongst a few other things...but on the other hand, being on this site and others, does inflate the confidence that little bit, that if someone finds me 'appealing' in more ways than one, but aesthetically as a majority part, then I'm not doing too badly and can only do better once I better myself.

I am however doing something about it, so may, once this trial membership runs out take a time out and come back when I think I'm 'ready'

Awww bless you five-owe, Well you should certainly stay on
in that your chances can only improve really??
You can't win the lottery if you don't buy a ticket?!

As for myself I have to agree with you to a degree, My confidence
is not what it should be and I have moments when it drops very low.
I've suffered with anorexia for many years and find it hard to see
myself as "pretty", And everyone knows self confidence is on of the
keys to being happy...

Oh good luck with the weight loss by the way, Hope it goes well for you! x

well I would just like to mention that we did have a group meet up a few years back what went really well, With me being so shy I found it a help.. I miss them to be honest. Ok before ppl start saying there no way I'm shy. But when it comes to the ladies I have a real shyness.. this has come on over the last few months. But think the group meeting would do the world of good for the people who are shy/less confidant.

I wish you all the best five owe

hey a group meet sounds like a great idea....so long as it was centrally located for a majority of people to travel to and not just London.

Friends keep trying to get me to go on speed dating nights...eek! Anyone been to any?

cheers, to you both well its 8lbs lost in the 1st week so onwards and upwards...or rather downwards!

and Summer, you have nothing to worry about when it comes to the beauty/"pretty" department.

congratulations five-owe, 8lb's is good, keep it going!

awww and thank you for the compliment, i guess we all have
our own issues with ourselves... but at least we all seem to
be taking a positive approach to dealing with them x

thanks mate, and congrats on the loss...its good to hear someone else having success. And that's roughly the starting point I've come from, you were a bit lower maybe, but only by a few lbs...2 wks gone and already down to 18st - should have been lower, but had a chinese on Saturday, albeit it was the only food, apart from toast in the morning I had that day. (Weekend was a shambles what with gran phoning at 11.30pm Friday night because she had leaking cistern pipes and no plumbers til Monday - stayed up all night emptying buckets after a full day's work)

I've done this plan before and got down to just above 16st in 4 months, but could never break into the 15's, even with low kcal diet and high kcal count workouts (probably 900kcal daily intake set against 1100kcal workout over 2 hours 4/5 days a week)

Anyways.....this is about internet dating, lol!!

ah don't be so hard on yourself...if you can edit the red eye maybe that might help a little?

At least you don't look like a chubby Joe Pasquale like I do!

Five-Owe - I think you actually look like Brian O'Halloran lmao.... x

Ryanrules - Try being confident, It may be difficult with how you obviously feel
but girls do prefer a gentleman with confidence.

Well I do anywhoooo lol

Summer, you're not the first person to say that about Brian who looks a bit like Charlie Sheen, which I also got in younger/pre-beard stage - I've been told I look like Barry George too (suspect in Jill Dando murder!) which was probably a downer in terms of the looky-likey comparisons!

xxsummer88xx
xxsummer88xx(20 years - 42 forum posts)14/03/2010 13:27
LMAO!!! >_< Oh my, Yes that is a bit of a downward comparison!
Keep the charlie sheen one in mind! lol

So...any more development on the idea of a group meet? (its been a few months since the idea came up)

Oh, and to add to the lookeylikeys - someone jokingly asked me if I was the guy from Fun Lovin Criminals?! How many more people have to be cursed with my looks?! hehe...

starting to get a little pessimistic about the whole Internet dating thing...I summed it up in my head the other day that I get ignored enough as it is in real life....dating sites just mean I'm paying for the privilege to be ignored!

Besides, I hear Monasteries are nice and airy buildings during the summertime!
