I think it's down to the sheer number of users, they have to try and reduce this to as bare a minimum as possible. At times, recently, there have been as many as 9 (nine!) female members, all logged on at once!!!!

I don't see a point in this site, i mean its charging to chat to someone, this is really dumb.
I have tried paying for this stuff and i still meet the same type of women who are shallow, annoying and bitchy, all of which is why they are still single, so i see no point in paying for a service which doesn't help me at all.

You need to be a Premium member to read your mails (not to send) or to chat. However, you can read mails from and chat with a Premium member even as a Free member. Two Free members cannot chat or read each other's mails though.
After using this site for years inbetween fairly successful relationships, i'm really disappointed!
I can just about understand why [money maybe?] but I think it's a real shame, and usage on here... which seemed higher before all the changes of the past few year, well now i think it will drop off dramatically.

I agree. its my recent bug bear with some sites, (not necessarily this one as its been quite good to me with upgraded membership due to forum useage and contribution) but why should I pay only to potentially be ignored? I get that treatment for free in reality, I'm not that financially masochistic!
On here though, admittedly, I might not get responses because people can't read the mails, it would appear, but generally with dating sites its quite often a stumbling point between two people getting to know each other.
Why not make it so that communicating is free, but if people decide to meet they are only able to do so by contribution to the site (whereby contact information is subsequently 'unlocked'), therefore acknowledging, in some respect the facility that has allowed for those two people to meet each other?
